Who’s Your Target Market?
As an real estate agent, you have big dreams. You want your entire market to know your services are available to everyone who wants to buy or sell a home. Sometimes you want success so badly that you spend huge sums of money trying to attract the whole city to you, only to find that you’ve overspent your budgets without adding any new customers. To be the most effective you need to determine who your target market is. We need a strategic marketing plan and to identify who is our target market.
Attempting to reach everybody is not only inefficient, it’s also very expensive. Nobody can afford to target everybody.
Imagine if you understood exactly what your client wanted and needed. Think about how easy it would be to develop tools and resources to address their specific needs, fears, hopes and dreams. You would become not only their trusted adviser but also the authority in a specific area. This is gold!!
That’s why it’s important to narrowly define your target customer, and focus your marketing dollars on the market that is more likely to buy from you than other markets. You can clearly define your target market by taking a look at your current customer base, figure out where you have been successful, evaluate why they bought from you, and group them based on similar interests.
On my Podcast Getting Clear on Who You Serve, I have some helpful hints to help you sort this out. You have to get clear on who you want to serve. Once you do everything else will become much easier.
